Saturday August 21st is the date for your diary if you want to shrug off those lockdown blues and dust off your dancing shoes to some Northern Soul and Motown Magic.

Bill Shannon’s MARNHULL SOUL Revue will be coming to Marnhull’s British Legion on that night in a fund-raising effort to help get the venue back on its feet again.

As Bill explains ‘The Legion, like most venues, has suffered terribly over the past year and they have kindly donated the place to us for free that night. All proceeds will be going to the venue to help secure it’s future.

The evening will run from 8-12 with pizza and a full bar and, most importantly, a beautiful dance floor to boogaloo your bags away! Tickets at just £3 (£4 on the night) available from Robin Hill Stores, The Spa Shop and the Legion itself.

Bill is a stalwart of the Soul scene, having caught the bug when growing up in Manchester in the sixties. He was a regular at the city’s ‘Twisted Wheel’ Club, considered to be the ‘cradle’ of Northern Soul, and then later at the now legendary Wigan Casino All-Nighters. He’s since gone on to be a music entrepreneur, running his own Distribution business, Record Label, Online Sales Platform called simply ‘Tunes’ as well as Djing at Weekenders, and Soul events up and down the country.

He also hosted his own radio show during the nineties and noughties.

Bill will be playing music exclusively on good old vinyl, mainly 45s. He continues: ‘The music is so joyous and uplifting, it’s impossible not to feel exhilarated when you hear it.  We want the good people of Marnhull to come out and have a great time. There’s no need for anyone to feel inhibited. If you’ve never been to a Soul night before I guarantee you’ll recognise many of the tunes and probably love the ones you don’t!’
