The Marnhull Show
The following report appeared in the September
2009 edition of the Marnhull Messenger: We were very fortunate in having a window of fine weather for this year’s show. Despite a difficult growing season, we had a record number of exhibits, 727- including some impressively sized rockets! The committee would like to express their thanks to all the local businesses who supported the program through their advertisements and those individuals who sponsored tables and gave donations. This year we had some new awards; The Ross cup for the best front garden and the Robin Hill Shields for the new children's’ classes. Thanks to those who made this possible. Thanks are also due to all competitors; the parents and schools for encouraging children to enter and the children for encouraging their parents and grandparents to enter. The judges commented that the quantity and quality of the exhibits were well above what they see at other shows. There has probably never been so many Dorset Apple Cakes gathered together in one place at one time! Putting on the show has been a rewarding experience for the committee, who worked fantastically as a team. If there is anyone who would like to help either on the committee or on the day of the 2010 show please let us know. The planning for next year’s show will begin shortly; start germinating soon!
