Marnhull Fest 2006 - see the pictures

The following report from Les Elsworth, Chairman of C2000, the orgainsers of the Marnhull Fest, appeared in the October 2006 Edition of the Marnhull Messenger.

"The 6th Marnhull Fest and Flower Show has been and gone and already the plans are being drawn up for the 7th.

There was a tremendous turnout of stalls at the Marnhull Fest 2006We had a tremendous turnout of stalls and express our gratitude to the Clubs and Associations who manned them. The varied music, entertainment and of course the Fireworks were excellent

The Fest has become a unique Village event which we believe creates fantastic community spirit, it is also looked forward too by a vast majority, and not just those from outside of the Village, it has become within reason a self-funding event and we will be sending a large donation once again to the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, and once the budget for next year is in place, helping those we can within the village.

We were this year somewhat disappointed with our Saturday afternoon and are already addressing the problems. We were, to be fair, caught out at the last minute by our government sending those that represented the RN band Yeovilton overseas to such places as Iraq and Afghanistan, also members of one of the evening bands!!! It became quite a panic to try to fill their places and in the end not all possible, our best wishes for a safe return to those abroad.

We do have so many people to thank for their assistance from the start in preparing the site on Wednesday to the Sunday clean up; without you it becomes an impossible task, your names are too many to mention but you know who you are and we are extremely grateful for your help

A large donation from this year's Fest will once again go to the Dorset & Somerset Air AmbulanceUnfortunately our AGM will have been and gone by the time you read this report, hopefully though, you will have seen it advertised and maybe attended, even have joined the committee!! We are always looking for new faces joining us. Those that have,have found it very satisfying being involved. It is not a private party, it is a lot of hard work, it is a community event, bringing together all the age groups in one way or another either with the rocking of the evening music, to the beautiful Flower Show marquee. We try to provide for everyone, this said we are always open to comment and listen to any points, suggestions raised whether good or bad, its your Fest, we just organise it.

You may well come across a questionnaire in your travels, please take the time to fill one in, all we ask is that you do it honestly, it is a means of gathering information from you to better the event and deal with any issues you may have where possible.

We really hope you enjoyed the weekend and thank you all for your support.
